Meet Our Dentists
Dr. Steve Chown
Steve was born in Northern Ontario and grew up in Thunder Bay and several other small mill towns. He went to the University of Manitoba and completed his dental degree in 1995. After working in Thompson, Manitoba for a few years, he decided to return to Northwestern Ontario and moved to Fort Frances in 1998.
Steve feels that Fort Frances is the ideal place for him to have his dental office. He offers a wide variety of dental treatments which reduces trips out of town for his patients. After taking many hours of continuing education and participating in comprehensive mentorship programs he is able to offer his patients orthodontic (braces), endodontics (root canals), oral surgery (wisdom teeth removal), soft tissue laser treatments as well as more well known treatments such as fillings and crowns.
Dr. Mike Botsford
Mike was born and raised in Fort Frances and considers himself lucky to have the opportunity to raise his family in his hometown with his wife Stephanie. Mike received his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontrario, then was accepted at the University of Manitoba to complete his Masters Degree in Physiology. He then went on to receive his Dental Degree from Manitoba and returned to Fort Frances to begin practicing.
Mike has been practicing dentistry since 2001 and is happy to provide a full range of services to his patients, including implants, wisdom tooth extractions and root canals. He looks forward to meeting with patients to discuss their oral health needs and how best to address them.
Dr. Joanna McQuarrie
Joanna was born and raised in Fort Frances, ON and considers herself a hometown girl. She attended the University of Manitoba for dental hygiene and graduated in 2006. After completing her diploma, she decided to return to the University of Manitoba to further her studies in the dental field. In 2013 she graduated with honours concurrently with her Bachelor of Science in Dentistry and her Doctor of Dental Medicine. She enjoys family practice, working with children and doing orthodontics. In her spare time, she loves to be on the lake in a boat with her two children, husband and golden retriever. She plans on a long career in Fort Frances and many years in this community.
Meet Our Hygienists
Meet Mandi.
Mandi was born and raised in Fort Frances and is happy to be working back in her hometown. Mandi graduated from Dental Hygiene with honours at Confederation College in Thunder Bay in June 2009. She joined our dental team in September 2009. She has come to know many of our patients and their families over the years and looks forward to catching up with them during their appointments.
Meet Terri-Lee.
Terri-Lee has been an actively practicing registered dental hygienist at our office since 2002, shortly after her graduation form Cambrian College in Sudbury. Terri-Lee is currently a member in good standing of both the Canadian and Ontario Dental Hygiene Associations. As a dental professional, she promotes overall health and wellness through the initiation of dental hygiene care.
Meet Kali.
Kali graduated with honours in 2011 from the Dental Hygiene program at Confederation College. She has been working as a hygienist since August 2011. She took part in the Remote Areas Program, travelling to northern fly-in communities across NWO for 2 years providing dental care. She joined our team in March 2017 working as a hygienist and assisting as needed.
Meet Our Assistants
Meet Amy.
Amy was born and raised in Fort Frances. She graduated in 2018 from the Dental Hygiene Program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, ON. Amy joined our team July 2018 as a dental assistant. She hopes to start her career as a dental hygienist with the Rainy Lake Family Dental Team in the near future.
Meet Trisha.
Trisha graduated from Bemidji Technical College with a diploma in Dental Assisting and became certified in Ontario. She is a certified Level II Dental Assistant and is also a member of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association. Trisha enjoys the wide range of general dentistry but has a special interest in oral surgery. Her years of knowledge make her an asset to our dental team.
Meet Lindsay.
Lindsay is one of our Registered Level II Dental Assistants. She was born and raised in the Fort Frances area. Lindsay attended Confederation College Dental Assisting Program in Thunder Bay, where she graduated in 2004, and has been with us ever since. Lindsay enjoys all aspects of her job, but really enjoys assisting in oral surgeries. She is a great addition to our team.

Meet Nicole.
OFFICE COORDINATOR
Nicole grew up in Fort Frances and has been working at the office since 2013. Nicole has a Business Administration Diploma from Confederation College and would be happy to assist you with any financial questions related to your personal insurance plan and payment options available. Nicole’s goal is to help make this process as simple as possible while answering any questions you may have about your dental health and continuing care. She looks forward to meeting you while providing exceptional service for your individual needs.
Meet Erica.
TREATMENT COORDINATOR
Erica is the treatment coordinator for our office. She has worked in the dental field since 2009 and really finds dentistry interesting. Erica enjoys her job and will be happy to help you arrange your dental visits.
Meet Corey.
HYGIENE COORDINATOR
Corey was born and raised in Fort Frances and is very happy to be living in her hometown. She graduated from Dental Hygiene with honours at Algonquin College in 2016 and is now working with our front office staff. Corey enjoys interacting with our clients and will be happy to help arrange your hygiene appointments as needed.
